Painting on Doilies – from guest blogger Diana Perez

Hello everyone! I’m back again with another fun idea on how you can use Waves Of Expression watercolors. This time I’m going to go over how you can make your artwork look even cuter by using doilies as a painting surface. I’ve actually been painting on doilies for years now as I love the look they give off. Although some might think that doilies are too thin or lightweight for watercolors, the truth is, doilies can take quite a lot of watercolor paint. So if you’re looking for a way to make your art more unique, romantic, and dreamy, keep on reading!

Doilies are usually found near craft or baking sections at a store since they’re traditionally used as display decoration for cakes and deserts. But if you ask me, doilies are too cute to only be used for pastry decor which is why I originally began painting on them back in 2018. And ever since I discovered Waves Of Expression watercolors I couldn’t think of a better duo than doilies and glitter paint. Which is why I had to dedicate today’s post to painting on doilies.

A good thing to know is that there’s a large variety of doilies to pick from. So if you like painting big or you prefer to paint small, there’s a doily for you. Doilies also come in a variety of different shapes and colors. The most common shape for doilies is a circle but heart and rectangle doilies also exist. As for color, I’ve seen white, red, pink, gold, and silver but I’m sure there’s more. However, I recommend getting white doilies for painting since they show the colors better.

The reason glitter watercolors work so nicely on doilies is because both the doilies and the watercolors give off a romantic and magical essence. Pair them they easily create a dreamy work of art.

So next time you’re looking for a fun and different way to paint, remember to pick up some doilies and Waves of Expression glitter watercolor paints. That way you’ll be sure to create beautiful works of art that shimmer and shine from miles away. And like always, thank you so much for reading!
